Description: Mick Murphy, one of Ireland’s most colourful sportsmen. He was known as ‘the Iron Man’ following his epic win in the Rás Tailteann cycling stage race of 1958. Over his 80-plus years, the eccentric Kerry man was a cyclist, wrestler, boxer, runner, farmer, circus performer, fire eater, ventriloquist and bricklayer. I filmed this in 2008. Beannacht Dé lena anam dílis. RIP.nnP.S. It also features Paudie Fitzgerald from Dingle, winner of the Rás in 1956.
