One day, when Mabel is out, the cat targets the canary. Doggie, hearing the commotion, assesses the situation and realizes he's no match for the cat. Determined to seek help, he dashes as fast as his little legs can carry him to a kennel where three large collies reside. Doggie recounts his troubles to the collies, and they rush back with him to the scene.<br/><br/>The collies, being bigger and stronger, secure entry into the house through a basement window just in time to rescue the canary from danger. The cat, named Tabbie, flees, triggering an exhilarating chase. When Mabel returns home, she discovers the overturned birdcage and the canary's feathers scattered.
